Gorilla Social Structure and Behaviour:
Live in groups with a strong dominant male troop leader
known as the silverback. The silverback makes the decisions,
takes responsibility for safety and determines feeding sites.
Gorilla Life Cycle:
Sexual maturity occurs 10-12 years for females and 11-13
for males. Gestation is 8.5 months and there is usually
3-4years between births with infants staying with the mother
during this time. Life span is 30-40 years.
Gorilla Diet:
Gorillas are omnivores and eat fruits, leaves, shoots and
occasionally insects although this makes up only 1-2% of
their diet.
